“Elegantly Wasted” is the first single and title track of the album Elegantly Wasted by INXS, released around the world in Europe, Japan, Australia and South Africa, although no official release in the US. The song is said to have been written after Hutchence and Bono from U2 went out for a “night on the town”. “Elegantly Wasted” is a deft mix of rock infused with dance beats. The band’s new sound bridged the gap between the public’s taste for postgrunge rock anthems, and the slinky mechanical seduction of electronica.
