“Home of the Blues” is a Johnny Cash song about his unhappy childhood. It was recorded over a year after “I Walk the Line” on July 1, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee. The song was written by Johnny Cash, and Douglas L. McAlphin and Glenn Douglas Tubb and, like much of Cash’s output, was produced by Jack Clement. “Home of the Blues” was redone by Joaquin Phoenix as a part of the 2005 film, Walk the Line.
