The song was written and produced by Timberlake, Timothy “Timbaland” Mosley, and Nate “Danja” Hills, for Timberlake’s second studio album, FutureSex/LoveSounds. The single was released on December 7, 2007, and in Europe, was part of a double A-side with “Until the End of Time”. The version released as single omits the prelude “Set The Mood”, however, this is included before “Until The End Of Time” on all European copies of the single. The music video for “Summer Love” was released to German and Australian television stations only, and features a live performance of the song from Timberlake’s Futuresex/Loveshow concert in Madison Square Garden, New York.
