Kristofferson is the first album by Kris Kristofferson, released in 1970 (see 1970 in music) on Monument Records. Many of the songs on the album were already hits when covered by other artists. In spite of this, the album was initially a commercial disappointment, although it managed to reach #10 on the country album charts. It was re-released under the title Me and Bobby McGee in 1971 immediately following the success of Janis Joplin’s cover of that song and the success of Kris Kristofferson’s second album, The Silver Tongued Devil and I.
