In the United Kingdom, Christmas number one singles are those that are at the top of the UK Singles Chart on the week before Christmas Day. Novelty songs, charity songs or songs with a Christmas theme have often been at the top of Christmas charts. Musicians and pressure groups view having a Christmas number one as being especially prestigious, more so than any other time of year.
