“Dawn is a Feeling” is the second song from The Moody Blues 1967 album Days of Future Passed. Days of Future Passed is a concept album with each song representing a part of the day, with “Dawn is a Feeling” representing Dawn. “Dawn is a Feeling” was written by the Moody Blues’ keyboardist Mike Pinder, and features the band’s guitarist Justin Hayward on lead vocals, which departs from the traditional Moody Blues’ method of having the song’s writer sing lead vocals. Pinder ultimately wanted Hayward to sing “Dawn is a Feeling” because he liked the sound of Hayward’s voice, and felt it fit the song perfectly.
