“Pop Ya Collar” is the first single from Usher’s unofficial Internet-leak album All About U, and later officially released on some editions of his third studio album 8701. While only peaking at number 60 on the Billboard Hot 100, the song was particularly successful in the United Kingdom, where it reached number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. It was inspired by the upturned collar, and helped make the term “popped collar” a popular culture “buzzword”. This catch phrase (or slang) can also be attributed to other variations of this song title released by additional artists, such as “Pop Yo Collar” by MC Hammer (2000) and “Poppin’ My Collar” by Three 6 Mafia (2006).
