“Satellite” is a song by the Dave Matthews Band, released as the fifth and final single from their LP Under the Table and Dreaming. It reached #18 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. The song originally debuted on their album Remember Two Things. The song presumably evolved from an earlier song Matthews wrote entitled “After Her,“ which can be heard on a 1991 bootleg. There are no known versions of “After Her” performed live by either Matthews or the Dave Matthews Band. The guitar part for this song evolved from a finger exercise that Dave Matthews used to do. “Satellite” references the classic nursery rhyme “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, in the line “...Like a diamond in the sky, how I wonder...“.
