The beginning riff of the song uses finger tapping on the neck of the guitar. The song, along with the album’s third single, “My Heroine,“ opened them up to a larger fan base, because major music video stations, notably FUSE, played the video extensively. The song was also included on the in-game soundtrack of the EA Sports title, . In their video for “Smile in Your Sleep”, the band plays in the Parkwood Estate in a style reminiscent of the murder-mystery board game Clue with rooms and weapons as seen in the game.
