“Hot Love” is a song by the British glam rock band T.Rex, released in 1971. It was the group’s first number one on the UK Singles Chart, where it remained at the top for six weeks beginning in March 1971; the single, however, did not fare as well in the US, where it only peaked at number seventy-two on the Hot 100. The song reached #47 in Canada in June 1971. It was also the first T. Rex single to feature both a bass guitar and drums. Its success was propelled by a legendary Top of the Pops appearance, where mainman Marc Bolan appeared in androgynous clothes and covered in glitter, further solidifying the style of glam rock, first pioneered with his previous single, “Ride a White Swan”.
