“Desperado” is a soft rock song by the Eagles, an American rock band. Group members Glenn Frey and Don Henley wrote the song. It first appeared on the 1973 album Desperado, and has later appeared on numerous compilation albums although it was not a single. William Ruhlmann of Allmusic described the song as one of the band’s best, saying that it showed the strength of Henley’s and Frey’s co-writing, but also called it a “painfully slow ballad.“ In 1973, Linda Ronstadt recorded it for her album “Don’t Cry Now”, and released the song as a single. In 1975, The Carpenters covered the song for their album Horizon. Susan Raye recorded it as the ninth track (out of 10) on her album “Whatcha Gonna Do with a Dog Like That?“ in 1975.
