ExtendedancEPlay is a three-track (US: four-track) 12” EP by the British rock band Dire Straits, released in 1983. It is commonly called Twisting by the Pool, after the minor hit song of the same name on its first track. The EP is highly uncharacteristic of Dire Straits’ usual slow and relaxed song styles, as most of the tracks have a jazz and/or swing feel with an upbeat tempo. It is the first release to feature drummer Terry Williams, who filled the spot after the departing original drummer, Pick Withers. In its original UK configuration, this EP only contained three tracks. Added to the North American release was “Badges, Posters, Stickers, T-Shirts” - a Love over Gold studio outtake which had already been released in the UK as the B-side to “Private Investigations”.
